Simeone and Di Maria: UCL opponents uniting Argentina in pride

“This moment is the result of the work we have been doing for the past three years.”

Those are the words of Diego Simeone ahead of the European Champions League final in Lisbon and you cannot disagree with them. He has shown what counts on the pitch and the fact that his team,

Atletico Madrid, are one of the most respected clubs in European football proves his every word.

And do not forget that when he took charge of the team on December 27, 2011, the Colchoneros were in danger of relegation.

Waiting for Simeone’s Atletico tonight is Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid. Tough opponents with galactic names who can make a difference; Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Angel Di Maria, of course! The player from Rosario is a skilful and quick left-sided midfielder who has won a special place with the Merengues, just as he has with the Argentinian national team. He has formed a diamond attacking force with Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero and Gonzalo Higuain – all of them a dream to watch for anyone who enjoys good football.

It is worth noting, as with Fideo and Javier Mascherano, that he has established himself in an Argentina shirt before his club side.

What is most interesting of all is that the UCL final will be a big boost for Di Mario before he joins up with his team mates in Alejandro Sabella’s squad to start focusing on the World Cup.

We should be proud of our two Argentinians with big roles to play in the star-studded final in Lisbon: Diego Simeone on the side-lines and Angel Di Maria on the pitch. Thank you guys!
